Inverters/Chargers

Inverter Chargers are pieces of equipment that convert the DC power outputed from the solar panels, to AC power. The AC power is then used to charge either your stand alone or back up power needs.

Grid Interactive inverter chargers provides the best of both worlds.  This intuitive piece of equipment allows the structure to have the benefit of sending un-used power back to the grid and at the same time having the security of a battery back-up system.  The grid tied inverter/charger also has the ability to be automatically switched between “grid tied” mode and “off grid” mode.  When in grid tied mode the inverter/charger will send the power back to the utility grid where the structure can take advantage of your local power buy-back program.  When the system is relying on stored power from it’s battery bank the inverter/charger will intuitively keep the batteries charged.  Most inverter/chargers can be programmed not to allow the batteries to fall below a certain percentage of charge.  Some of the higher end units may even offer online monitoring and others have LED screens on the unit. The grid tied inverter/charger is perfect  for those serious about keeping their energy needs met while still taking advantage of being grid tied at the same time.
